Nibmor chocolate review

Who doesn't want chocolate? I don't know anyone who doesn't.  Anyway, hubby was browsing at our Whole Foods and found this chocolate and bought it for me. I had to share my thoughts about it.  It's not exactly paleo or GAPS-friendly due to the fact that it has agave nectar, but I was willing to try it.  It has a different taste, a slightly different feel and texture. It's softer than regular chocolate. I like that it has 65% cacao and it's been crafted at low temperatures to minimize the loss of nutrients and flavonoids.  It's also non-GMO which is a huge deal for me.

There are several flavors but I prefer the plain one.  At 3.99 a bar it costs more than regular store-bought chocolate but it's worth it.

I like this chocolate and I will continue to buy it!

  1. Another more paleo-ish option is Tonic Scene raw organic vegan chocolate (I find it at Whole Foods). The one I have is dark chocolate (70%) sweetened with coconut nectar.
Ingredients: cacao (cocoa butter, cacao powder) and coconut nectar...That's it.
Just one thing: since it's raw chocolate, the bars are small (I manage to make it last).

  2. Thanks, I'll look for that. I haven't seen it there before. I would like that better since it has no agave nectar. I agree with you, I made this one last me over a week. I try to enjoy every bite. I think chocolate is a luxury that's meant to be savored, not gorged on(like what I used to do LOL).

  3. I try to stay away from chocolate (or at least to keep it to an absolute minimum) b/c 1/ it is addictive and 2/ it contains both oxalates and phytates that interfere with nutrient absorption. I have been struggling to remineralize my teeth and I definetely see and feel a difference on my teeth when I have chocolate or not. I also keep oxalic rich foods to once or twice a week (spinach, beets, swiss chards...) and make sure I have some calcium right after.
Here's a paleo article on chocolate that you might find interesting: http://paleodietlifestyle.com/chocolate-coffee-alcohol/

  4. Thanks for the article, I'll read it. I don't hardly eat enough chocolate. I think the last time was this one, this post. So it's been nearly a month since my last morsel :). I heard about the remineralizing teeth, I think paleo diet helps with that. I drink tons of bone broth that I make, it's supposed to be chock-full of minerals. Hope it helps.
